      INSTRUCTIONS

Choose a table or desk that will still have pleasing proportions without its long legs, and decide which areas you want to paint and/or strip. In this case the legs had to be sawn off – if you are doing this take care that your cuts are straight, and are all the same distance from the table top.

      1. STRIP all of the varnished or painted visible areas back to bare wood with paint/varnish stripper following the instructions supplied. Once the piece is stripped and dry, go over it all with fine and medium grade sandpaper as necessary, for a smooth finish.
      2. APPLY two coats of paint. When this is dry, go over with fine sandpaper and wire wool until all areas are smooth and you are happy with the finish.
      3. SAND the edges with fine and medium grade paper to create an aged look. Don't be scared of this – if you go too far you can just add some more paint and start again. Then move on to other areas, such as corners that would get natural wear and knocks.
      4. DUST once you're satisfied with the paintwork, and apply wax using a cloth, removing all residue with a second, clean cloth and buffing to a shine. Attach the castors using the screws provided, placing the lockable ones on the front corners so the table is easy to move around but can still be kept in place.
